Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov is back on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol list Tuesday a day after being suspended by the team for disciplinary reasons.

Kuznetsov, who is sixth on the team in points (nine goals, 20 assists) did not play Monday due to being late to a team function. Ilya Samsonov also was late, but was not placed in COVID-19 protocol.

In January, Kuznetsov was placed on the COVID-19 absences list along with Alex Ovechkin, Dmitry Orlov and Samsonov, and the Capitals were fined $100,000 for the players’ violations of protocols. The players were in a hotel room together in close contact while not wearing face coverings.
