After just one game in his fourth season as a Vancouver Canuck — and for the second time in blue and green — Loui Eriksson is a healthy scratch.
The veteran Swedish winger’s spot in the lineup for Saturday night’s game here was taken by second-year centre Adam Gaudette.
“I wanted to get him in,” Canucks head coach Travis Green said about Gaudette before facing the Calgary Flames. “I didn’t say that he was going to sit out for a long time.”
Gaudette’s opportunity was built out of a strong pre-season showing. Eriksson being the man sitting out is a reflection of where he now sits in the restructured team’s pecking order, with Green having a number of options to choose from in selecting wingers for this third and fourth lines.
