Miami's big win over North Carolina has led to an individual honor for one Hurricane. Monday afternoon, guard Adrienne Motley was named the ACC Rookie of the Week after her performance in the Hurricanes' 83-80 upset of the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill on Sunday afternoon. Motley, a freshman, had a career-high 27 points in the win. It's the single highest-game scoring total for any of Miami's women this season. When North Carolina made a run late, it was Motley that answered, scoring five of Miami's last seven baskets and 14 of the Hurricanes' final 22 points. She shot 71 percent from the field and was 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Motley also had a solid showing in Miami's near-upset of third-ranked Duke last Thursday. In all, she averaged more than 20 points in Miami's two games last week, shot 64 percent overall, and had 7.5 rebounds. Motley is the Hurricanes' leading scorer in ACC play averaging 13.3 points per game against conference opponents and has now scored in double figures in seven straight games. It's the first conference honor for Motley.
