Drew Stubbs found the tiniest of chinks in A.J. Burnett's armor Wednesday night, but, when the game was over, Stubbs' at-bats helped to represent Burnett's dominance. Stubbs reached first on an error in the first inning. He walked in the sixth. In between, Burnett retired 17 consecutive batters in a masterful performance that gave the Pirates a 2-1 win and a 2-1 series victory against the National League Central division-leading Cincinnati Reds. Burnett pitched seven innings at PNC Park, keeping the Pirates alive until their offensive pistons fired.
