Unlike the first round when the Bills remained patient and waited for Ed Oliver to land in their lap, Friday night, Brandon Beane couldn’t resist trading up two spots so that he could select offensive lineman Cody Ford.

The Bills went from 40th overall to 38, changing places with the Raiders. That move cost them a fifth-round pick, No. 158 overall.

With Tampa Bay picking at No. 39, and knowing the Buccaneers are in need of offensive line help, Beane pulled the trigger on the deal to get Ford, a player who was projected by several draft analysts as a mid-first round pick.
