Michigan State's revamped backcourt just got a boost for the upcoming season. Bryn Forbes, a shooting guard who transferred to Michigan State from Cleveland State this offseason, has been granted a waiver to play for the Spartans in the 2014-15 season, the school announced Wednesday afternoon. NCAA rules typically require transfer players to sit out one year. "This is truly a blessing to me," Forbes said in a release. "I’m happy to have this behind me, so that I can focus on balancing basketball, school and family obligations. I just look forward to contributing to the team any way I can." A former standout at Lansing Sexton, where he was teammates with current Spartan Denzel Valentine, Forbes led Cleveland State in scoring with 15.6 points per game last season. In two seasons in Cleveland, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard shot 40.8 percent from 3. Forbes said soon after transferring that he wanted to come to Michigan State in part to be closer to home to take care of his young son and be near a family member with a medical issue.
