Brooks Orpik just landed the biggest hit of the young season Thursday night against the Colorado Avalanche. You have to see this. While trailing 2-0 to the Avs early in the second period, Orpik stepped up on rookie Vladislav Kamenev in the neutral zone and walloped the Russian forward to the ice. After the play, a small melee broke out. Orpik was engaged by Nikita Zadorov while TJ Oshie scrummed with Erik Johnson. All four players got matching roughing penalties. Meanwhile, the hit forced Kamenev, bent over at the waist, to leave the game. The young player was bleeding from the nose as he skated off the ice. He did not return during the second period.
