Fake girlfriends, guns, President Barack Obama, the Super Bowl and Dove +Men. Broncos vice president for football operations John Elway talked about all of them with CNN's Piers Morgan in an interview that aired Thursday. Morgan called Elway "a true legend" in introducing him. Morgan began the interview talking about Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o, who has said he was the victim of an online hoax that involved a fake girlfriend. Morgan asked Elway if he had ever had a fake girlfriend. Elway laughed and said no, but then got serious and said the story was "a sad situation — hate to see a kid have to go through that." Morgan shifted to the topic of gun violence. He mentioned the Aurora theater shootings and asked Elway his views. "I'm still kind of waiting to hear both sides of it," Elway said. "I'm a gun owner and I'm a hunter and I enjoy that and I respect the Second Amendment." Morgan asked about people owning "military-style rifles that can pump out 100 bullets a minute." "I don't own a machine gun," Elway replied. He said he didn't see a reason anyone would need one and said "that's the side I'm waiting to hear about." Shifting gears again, Morgan pointed out that Elway had endorsed Mitt Romney for president and asked about the election results. Elway answered, "The bottom line is, I think that President Obama did a tremendous job, he's a tremendous campaigner ... the people they had on the ground did a tremendous job of getting the votes, getting people to the polls, and did a tremendous job there."
