Inside linebacker Brian Cushing signed a six-year contract extension today that includes $21 million guaranteed and is worth $55.643 million. As the Texans’ first-round pick in 2009 Cushing signed a five-year contract worth $15.9 million. To free up $5.5 million the Texans restructured receiver Andre Johnson’s contract. Johnson will receive $5.5 million of his $10.5 million salary as a bonus. His base salary will be $5 million. General manager Rick Smith and vice president of administration Chris Olsen negotiated the deals with agents Drew Rosenhaus (Cushing) and Kennard McGuire (Johnson). Johnson 32 was happy to restructure to help the Texans secure Cushing with the extension.
