The Yankees are looking to upgrade their roster.
Brian Cashman has been discussing potential deals with other executives and New York will try to acquire an impact player before the July 31 trade deadline, the longtime general manager said during a recent interview with WFAN.
"It's that time of season where you're making phone calls and you're engaging your opposition with both leagues," Cashman said, via NJ.com. "You're seeing what their needs are and what your interests are and if you match up."
The Yankees have already been linked to Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman and Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner, amongst others. They also reportedly attempted to land free agent Dallas Keuchel before he ultimately signed with the Braves earlier this month.
New York has made multiple big deals before the trade deadline in recent seasons, including in 2018, when it acquired Zack Britton from the Orioles and JA Happ from the Blue Jays.
