Class of 2017 5-star forward Brian Bowen has committed to the University of South Carolina and will apply for reinstatement from the NCAA, his attorney told Yahoo Sports. Bowen was at the forefront of the Louisville Cardinals recruiting scandal, reportedly having received $100,000 to commit to play for the Cardinals before he was ruled ineligible. “I cannot speak for the NCAA but I am confident that they will be fair and will afford Brian the due process that he deserves,” said Bowen’s attorney, Jason Setchen, to Yahoo Sports. “Based upon the facts and application of the NCAA’s Bylaws, Brian should be reinstated in my opinion. I have the utmost faith in the compliance staff at South Carolina and ultimately in the NCAA.” Bowen was ranked as the No. 13-overall player in the nation by 247sports, having committed to play for then-Louisville head coach Rick Pitino back in June.
