Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes confirmed Wednesday what had been obvious since he went on the injured list without the team specifying why – he tested positive for COVID-19.

“So, I tested positive, was asymptomatic the entire time,” said Burnes, who will return from the mandatory 10-day IL stint to start Thursday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field.

“So, through protocols I was forced to be away from the team for 10 days, but happy to be back and ready to get on the field.”

The Brewers had a false positive for COVID-19 just before the start of the season and Burnes said at first he hoped that was the case once again.
