The full-back is being taken out the firing line so that he can recover from an ankle problem, though there is no suggestion he will miss this summer's World Cup. Glen Johnson has been ruled out indefinitely by Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers claims he needs to take Johnson out of the firing line because he has been playing with a number of niggling injuries, including an ankle problem. Rodgers refused to put a timescale on Johnson's absence, but hopes some rest will solve the problem. Although there is no suggestion that Johnson is a doubt for the World Cup, the right-back's absence will still concern England boss Roy Hodgson.
