The Braves have claimed Travis Demeritte off waivers from the Detroit Tigers, the club announced Friday afternoon. Atlanta released Jeremy Walker from the 40-man roster in order to make room for Demeritte.

Demeritte, 26, was traded from the Braves to the Tigers in July 2019 as part of the Shane Greene trade. Demeritte put up strong numbers in the minor leagues with the Braves from 2016-2019, although he struggled with big league pitching in Detroit to the tune of a .217/.284/.3323 batting line (-0.4 WAR) across 219 plate appearances.
