In the first major coaching hire of his tenure, Director of Athletics Patrick Kraft on Monday named Earl Grant the 13th men’s head basketball coach at Boston College.
Grant, 44, replaced Jim Christian, who compiled a record 78-132 over seven seasons before being relieved of his duties by Kraft on Feb. 15.
Grant was the head coach at the College of Charleston the last seven seasons and complied an overall record of 127-89 and 68-50 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Grant enjoyed a banner season in 2017-18, when the Cougars went 26-8 and captured the CAA championship with a win over Northeastern. Charleston advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1999.
