Patrick Ewing never got an NBA championship ring and it seems like he may never get a head coaching job, either. The Charlotte Bobcats have reached an agreement in principle to hire Lakers assistant Steve Clifford as head coach, according to Yahoo! Sports, replacing Mike Dunlap, who was fired after going 21-61 in his lone season at the helm. Clifford is expected to try to hire Ewing as one of his top assistants, bringing the Knicks legend together with former rival and longtime friend, Bobcats owner Michael Jordan. Ewing, who was an assistant in the league from 2002-2012 -- with Washington, Houston and Orlando -- worked with Clifford as assistants from 2007-2012. He was a candidate for the job that last year, but the position went to the former St. John's assistant.
