Blues forward T.J. Oshie has a stress fracture and was scheduled to undergo surgery today, representing an about-face from the mood surrounding his status on Monday. Oshie, who has missed the team's last eight games with what was believed to be a bruised ankle, stopped just short of pronouncing himself fit for duty after yesterday's practice. “I'd say today was probably the best day I've had yet,” Oshie said yesterday. “We'll see how we feel a couple of hours from now and tomorrow morning and go from there. "I think we're close, but ..." After suffering the injury while blocking a shot March 28 against Los Angeles, Oshie had resumed skating April 6. He went on the team's recent four-game road trip and was on the ice nearly everyday. He's been gradually looking more comfortable in practice drills. "Today was his best day," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said Monday. "He's literally day to day now. We'll see how he is in the morning, see how he feels." But now there's been a setback and the timetable for the right winger's return is uncertain.
