Roy Hibbert’s pursuit to be part of USA Basketball is in rear-view mirror. Since Hibbert spent a short time with the Jamaican National Team — his dad is from Jamaica so he has dual citizenship — he needed them to release him in order have a chance to play with Team USA. During training camp, Hibbert said, “There has been some dialogue, but right now international lawyers are taking care of that to see if I can get out of my Team Jamaica thing.” Eight days ago, USA Basketball released their 28-man initial roster for 2014-16 and the 7-foot-2 center wasn’t included. “The door is closed,” he said. “I could pursue it, but I rather just workout during the summer. I think they have a good crop of guys and I wish them the best of luck.” A USA Basketball spokesman wrote in an email that “My understanding of this situation is it really is up to Roy and his agent to handle this through FIBA.” Hibbert’s agent, David Falk, wouldn’t discuss the matter.
