ESPN insider Keith Law has named Vladimir Guerrero Jr. the publication’s 2017 MLB Prospect of the Year. “I could make arguments for other players, but no one blew the doors off the hinges this year the way the 18-year-old son of possible Hall of Famer Vlad Sr. did,” Law wrote of the Toronto Blue Jays minor-leaguer and son of former Montreal Expos star Vladimir Guerrero. The 18-year-old Guerrero Jr. began the season with Lansing of the Midwest League before being promoted to Dunedin of the Florida State League. He batted .323/.425/.485 with a .910 OPS, 13 home runs and 76 RBI across the two levels of A-ball. Law also pointed to the impressive plate discipline displayed by Guerrero Jr., who’s drawn more walks (76) than strikeouts (62) this season.
