Going into the off-season, Randal Grichuk knew there was a possibility he could be traded. The St. Louis Cardinals simply had too many outfielders and something had to give. Grichuk did his research and learned the Toronto Blue Jays were searching for outfield help and that there was a chance he could be dealt to the American League club. “That’s one of the teams I was hoping to be traded to,” Grichuk said Friday morning during an appearance on The Jeff Blair Show on Sportsnet 590 The FAN. “Obviously I had no control over it, but when I heard then news I was super excited.” Grichuk, 26, was acquired by the Blue Jays last week for right-handers Dominic Leone and Conner Greene. He told Blair he’s excited at the opportunity for a fresh start in Toronto’s “good, hitter-friendly ballpark.”
