The fans have spoken. After racking up nearly six million votes from Nov. 28 to Dec. 31, the Blackhawks were selected as having the greatest uniform in league history, according to a recent NHL.com poll. The sweater was originally designed in 1956 by Dorothy Ivan, who was the wife of then-team president and general manager Tommy Ivan, but there was a slight update made for the 1959-60 season and it has since remained the same for the most part. Here's a photo gallery of the jersey over the years. “If you line up NHL jerseys, the Blackhawks stand out," Blackhawks legend Tony Esposito said. "I don’t know why, the color maybe? The big Native American head? It’s clear, it’s precise, it’s not helter-skelter. Maybe that’s what I like, the clarity of it. The red (home) jersey is so bright, and I think that’s what makes it stand out."
