Ben Roethlisberger wants Marcus Gilbert back for the team's expected playoff run, which is why he and other teammates advised Gilbert to not appeal his four game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances. Roethlisberger, who said that he and known that Gilbert's suspension was a possibility for 1-2 weeks, explained why he felt it was best for Gilbert to accept the NFL's suspension instead of appealing. Gilbert said he inadvertently used a banned substance while apologizing for his actions via Twitter. "I know we were all kinda in favor of him not trying to appeal this," Roethlisberger said during his weekly talk show on 93.7 The Fan. "How many times do you win an appeal in the NFL? You can postpone them, but how much does that help us? Or is it better for us to have him get it over with now. "That’s kinda how some of us were talking, whether it was with him or amongst ourselves. Let’s get this over with and get him here back with us."
