According to media reports out of the Dominican Republic, Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre and right fielder Nelson Cruz have told officials they are available to join the country's team for this spring's World Baseball Classic. WBC teams will submit their provisional 28-man rosters on Wednesday. Rangers outfielder Engel Beltre will be with Spain, and shortstop Elvis Andrus has said he wants to play with Venezuela. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels has said the club supports the WBC. Those Rangers who participate in the event will miss part of the club's spring-training preparations. Spain, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the Dominican are the the same pool. It begins play on March 7 in San Juan, P.R. The WBC championship game is set for March 19 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The Rangers will play the first game of the major-league season, on March 31 at Houston.
