He was an unqualified success story, a sixth-round draft choice who was cut by the Cincinnati Bengals, kept working and played his way into parts of six years with the Bears. That came to a close on Tuesday when the Bears announced they have terminated the contract for defensive tackle Matt Toeaina. Toeaina, 28, started 24 of 36 games played in parts of six seasons with the Bears, recording 66 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and two tackles for losses. His breakthrough came in 2010 when he played in all 16 games, starting 10 after coaches replaced Tommie Harris with Toeaina early in the season.
