The first game of the 2013 season is still five months away but the work getting ready for it begins on Tuesday. That’s when the voluntary offseason workouts begin at Halas Hall, nothing on the field but a time for players to start the transition to a new coaching staff, including new strength and conditioning mentor Mike Clark. The NFL permits teams with new head coaches to start a couple weeks ahead of the normal offseason startup, and the Bears will hold a voluntary veteran minicamp April 16-18. Organized team activities are scheduled to begin on May 13 and conclude on June 6, followed by a mandatory minicamp June 11-13. In between will be a rookie minicamp on May 10-12. All events are closed to the general public. But don't worry: Bourbonnais isn’t too far off.
