The average away fan will spend £171.37 to watch their beloved team play over the Christmas period, according to research from the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF). This research includes ticket, travel and food costs, plus journey times incurred by fans of all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs for matches played between Boxing Day and January 4. Unfortunately, supporters of Plymouth Argyle, currently 22nd in League One, face the highest costs and most arduous journeys to follow their team over the busy festive schedule. Plymouth fans will have to spend a hefty total of £468.43 to watch their struggling side play away against MK Dons on Boxing Day and Blackpool on December 30. The research, supported by Virgin Media, shows that the Plymouth faithful, who are due to travel more than 1,000 miles to watch their side over the 10-day period, will spend 11 times more than the lowest costs paid by Morecambe fans (£42.89). In total, Premier League fans will pay the most (£182.08) to watch top-flight football over the busy Christmas schedule. Manchester City fans, who have enjoyed a fun season so far, will have to spend the most out of the Premier League clubs, with £383.63 the total cost of attending matches at Crystal Palace and Newcastle.
