The Avalanche had to play more than 60 minutes in a game for the first time this season, but that didn't stop it from winning again 3-2 on Friday night. Paul Stastny's wrist shot off the rush at 3:36 of overtime upped the Avs' record to 11-1. Semyon Varlamov, arrested this week after allegations from his girlfriend, started and played well in getting the Avs to OT. He stopped 26-of-28 shots in regulation, allowing two third-period goals after the Avs started sitting back too much with the early lead. The Avs built a 2-0 lead through the first two periods, getting goals from Stastny and Gabe Landeskog. Colorado could have had more in the first period, too, if not for some great goaltending by the Stars' Kari Lehtonen. Lehtonen robbed Avs rookie Nathan MacKinnon on a doorstep putback, among others.
