In a somewhat surprising move, five-star 2019 recruit George Pickens — the No. 24 prospect in the country, No. 4 receiver and No. 1 player in the state of Alabama by the 247Sports Composite — announced he was flipping his commitment from Auburn to Georgia on National Signing Day.

“Every year, we usually know what’s going to happen, but this is one came a little bit out of left field,” 247Sports.com writer Barton Simmons said about the move. “High-profile kid commits to a team that we weren’t necessarily monitoring significantly as a program that was going to steal him. What a pick up for Georgia.”

Pickens was committed to Auburn for more than 500 days, so naturally Auburn fans and players were upset by the news. But a couple of players went a little further, seemingly suggesting Georgia paid Pickens in order to make the flip happen.
