Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo believes his team's victory against Liverpool should be enough for them to be declared European champions - if this season's Champions League campaign is unable to be completed.

The Reds, who won the trophy in the Spanish capital last season, were eliminated at the round of 16 stage in March when they lost the second leg 3-2 at Anfield having been beaten 1-0 in the first game.

UEFA are still to determining how to conclude the tournament - which was suspended in March due to the coronavirus outbreak - and are considering holding a two-week event in August to play the final rounds.

And if it becomes impossible to complete the competition, Cerezo believes he has found a solution.
