The Athletics have signed center fielder Coco Crisp to a two-year contract extension, the team announced. The deal includes a vesting option for a third year. Financial terms are unknown. Crisp, 34, was scheduled to become a free agent next offseason. The Athletics exercised his $7.5 million club option earlier this winter and now have him locked up through potentially 2017. In 131 games last season, Crisp hit .261/.335/.444 (119 OPS+) with 22 doubles, a career-high 22 home runs, 21 stolen bases and nearly as many walks (61) as strikeouts (66). He also grades out an excellent defender according to the various metrics.
