Game recap: The Astros won for just the second time in 10 games, downing the Mariners 3-2 on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park before a crowd of 13,929. The Astros took a 1-0 first-inning lead and added two runs in the third. A 444-foot Kendrys Morales home run to left field in the eighth pulled the Mariners within one. But Jose Veras threw a hitless ninth for his second save. Big bats: Matt Dominguez went 2-for-4 with a double, raising his average to .250. Seven Astros had a hit. Starters: Astros righthander Bud Norris wasn’t his normal smooth Minute Maid-self. But he was much improved after a 2⁄3-inning disaster on April 17 at Oakland. The Astros’ No. 1 starter made it through five innings, exiting with a 3-1 lead while allowing eight hits on 96 pitches. Early exit: Astros center fielder Justin Maxwell left the game in the top of the fifth inning for X-rays. He was hit on the left hand during a third-inning at-bat. Maxwell fractured his hand. Outfielder Robbie Grossman has been called up from Class AAA Oklahoma City.
