Marcos Rojo has vowed he will look for a move in the January transfer window unless he completes what would be an unlikely return to Manchester United's plans.

Aston Villa were linked with the Argentina international on deadline day in August with United prepared to let him go.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to trim his squad in a budget-cutting exercise, granting moves for those who do not feature in his first-team plans and after the £85million arrival of England centre-back Harry Maguire from Leicester City, Rojo was primed for an exit.

A loan deal was arranged for him to join Villa’s Premier League rivals Everton until the end of the season but that fell through, leaving the 29-year-old out in cold at Old Trafford.
