Ashley Young has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United.

The MEN revealed last week United had planned to confirm the 33-year-old's extension before their Champions League round-of-16 first leg with Paris Saint-Germain and the club announced Young’s new deal on the eve of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pre-match press conference.

The MEN previously reported Solskjaer was keen to retain Young since he valued his old school leadership and how he handles the dressing room. Young has also ousted Antonio Valencia as United’s first-choice right-back, having played ahead of Luke Shaw for the majority of last season at left-back.
