Top A’s pitching prospect Jesús Luzardo was removed from Tuesday night’s game at Triple-A Las Vegas after four innings with lat tightness and he will be re-evaluated Wednesday.

Luzardo, 21, was expected to join the rotation after the All-Star break, but Tuesday’s injury might push back his timetable. Luzardo has been working his way back from a left shoulder strain incurred during spring training.

Even with a potential setback for Luzardo, the team might be parting with another starter: Aaron Brooks, who has been the A’s long reliever much of the season, will be designated for assignment Wednesday to make room for closer Blake Treinen, who has missed 12 days with a right shoulder strain.
