The Oakland Athletics have acquired outfielder Ramon Laureano from the Houston Astros in exchange for right-handed pitcher Brandon Bailey. In order to make room on the team’s 40-man roster, the team outrighted right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl. Laureano spent the entire 2017 season at Double-A Corpus Christi in the Astros’ system. He batted .227/.298/.369 with 11 home runs and 55 RBI, swiping 24 bases while collecting 38 extra-base hits in total. The 22-year-old was originally drafted in the 16th round of the 2014 MLB Amateur Draft out of Northeast Oklahoma A&M. He has spent the first four seasons of his professional career in the Houston system, batting .266 with 89 total stolen bases.
