ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has been backed to snap up West Brom ace Jonny Evans. The Northern Ireland international has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Hawthorns. The Gunners and Manchester City have been touted as potential suitors. However, Wenger now appears to be the frontrunner for Evans with City poised to sign Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte. ESPN pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop admitted he thought Evans would be joining City. But with Pep Guardiola seemingly cooling his interest, Hislop thinks Arsenal should try and get a deal sealed.
