Arsenal have joined the race for Udinese attacking midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, according to reports in Italy.

At the age of 26, De Paul seems ready for a big move. He has excelled in his four seasons in Serie A, scoring 25 goals in 146 games.

Seven of those goals came in the most recent Serie A season, in which De Paul also provided six assists.

Despite his contract still lasting until 2024, many in Italy feel this is the Argentina international’s best chance for a big move.

Indeed, Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that AC Milan are seriously weighing up an offer. Juventus and Napoli are also keen on him.

However, the Italian paper adds that Arsenal have now joined the race. With doubts over the future of Dani Ceballos, De Paul could be an adequate replacement.

Originally a winger, De Paul has thrived in a more central role over the past year. The position has allowed him to maintain his levels of creativity; he contributed to more than one third of his side’s league goals in 2019-20.

Now, as Arsenal look to revamp their midfield, De Paul has emerged onto their radar.

Interestingly, he was linked with their rivals Tottenham Hotspur last year. De Paul chose to stay at Udinese because they wanted to keep him “at all costs”, though.
