Arsenal and Chelsea remain confident of luring Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, despite David Moyes’ insistence the striker will not be sold. Rooney has just two years remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford and both Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho are refusing to give up on the 27-year-old, who held crisis talks with new United boss Moyes last week. According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners have made a £20m opening bid for Rooney and, like Chelsea, the north London outfit are prepared to match his £250,000-a-week United wages.
