Arsène Wenger has revealed that he prevented Nicklas Bendtner from leaving Arsenal this summer because the Gunners were short of striking options. Crystal Palace were thought to be close to signing the Denmark international who has not played for Arsenal since the 2011-12 season after loan spells at Sunderland and Juventus. However the Gunners boss moved to block the 25-year-old’s potential move away from Emirates Stadium due to Arsenal’s lack of attacking options. And Wenger is convinced that the forward can still be an important player for the north London club during the course of the season.
