The Canadiens will play their annual Super Bowl weekend matinee games at the Bell Centre and coach Claude Julien has decided to split the goaltending duties with Antti Niemi starting Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks (1 p.m., TSN2, RDS, TSN Radio 690) and Carey Price playing Sunday against the Ottawa Senators (1 p.m., SN, RDS, TSN Radio 690). Niemi has a 1-1-1 record with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage since being claimed by the Canadiens off waivers from the Florida Panthers on Nov. 14. For the season, Niemi has a 1-5-1 record with a 4.44 goals-against average and an .871 save percentage, including stints in Pittsburgh and Florida. Price has a 14-19-4 record with a 2.97 goals-against average and .906 save percentage. The Canadiens will also have a new face in the lineup for the weekend games after calling up forward Nikita Scherbak from the AHL’s Laval Rocket just after 5 p.m. on Friday. In 24 games with the Rocket, Scherbak has 7-23-30 totals. He was pointless in two games with the Canadiens in October before suffering a knee injury. The Canadiens selected the 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward in the first round (26th overall) at the 2014 NHL Draft. The Canadiens, who are coming off a 2-0 loss to the Hurricanes Thursday night in Carolina, practised at noon Friday in Brossard, while the Ducks were skating at the same time on the second rink at the practice facility. The Ducks are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Senators Thursday night in Ottawa.
