Anthony Barr is likely seeing his days with the Minnesota Vikings come to a close as we inch closer and closer to the start of the new league year next week, but it is not completely ruled out that he could return to the team. However, one avenue of a potential re-signing seems as if it can be taken off the table.

The deadline to use the franchise/transition tag on a player hits on Tuesday afternoon and that number would pay a linebacker $15.4 million with a franchise designation or $13.2 million under the transition tag. Seeing as the price is already a huge question mark after he made $12 million this past season on his fifth-year option on a rookie contract, you can all but rule out him being tagged before the deadline.

Head coach Mike Zimmer addressed the pending free agent linebacker, along with defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, last week.
