There are so many quirks over 162 games, and despite the best work of media relations staffs, beat writers, baseball-reference and more, we never quite get to them all. Shane Loux pointed out a new wrinkle after tonight's victory. That wrinkle? The victory itself. This was the first time Loux has pitched in a win this season, and that's no knock on Loux. He has a 1.35 ERA in eight appearances, but the seven previous outings ended in a loss. Loux didn't really contribute to those losses — he just happened to be the guy called in to mop up when the Giants trailed. "Nobody knows my role more than I do," he said, "And I'm OK with that."
Another perfect pitching performance; Cain is rewarded for grinding
