People get all kinds of keepsakes from hockey games when their favorite team does things like win the Stanley Cup. I just don't think I've come across somebody who boasts having one of their favorite player's stitches but soon some Blackhawks fan will. Andrew Shaw the Hawks' agitator extraordinaire who took a shot square to the face in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final that left him bloodied on the ice is auctioning off the stitches required to close the cut. Really he is. From Facebook: Starting Thursday August 15th 2013 we will be auctioning off the actual stitches that Andrew Shaw received from a puck he took to the face in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Finals. This auction will be run for ten days ending on August 25th 2013 on eBay.com. We will post links to the auction on this page. The stitches are being professionally framed with an autographed photograph of Andrew Shaw plus there will be other items included in this auction lot. That's pretty gross but remember it's for a good cause! In this case all the proceeds will go to the V Foundation for cancer research the organization named in honor of former basketball coach Jim Valvano. So if you're disturbed at the idea of hanging up somebody's stitches on your wall remember Jimmy V's great speech.
