Andrew Bailey is the man everybody sees but nobody sees pitch. He has been like a false spring, one of those February days where the sun burns bright with illusion before the darkness of winter returns. Yesterday, Bailey threw 23 pitches in front of Red Sox pitching coach No.?1 (Bob McClure) and No.?1A (Randy Niemann) and then engaged in a pleasant interchange before packing his valise and heading to Connecticut to deal with a family matter. When he will throw again is unclear, although manager Bobby Valentine indicated the former American League Rookie of the Year might throw a bullpen session on Saturday, but not in the bullpen that counts.
