The Cardinals hope that Craig will be able to return if they reach the World Series. St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig took batting practice during the team's workout Sunday at Dodger Stadium reports Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com. Craig had not participated in outdoor batting practice since injuring his left foot on Sept. 4. He had taken swings off a tee during the past few weeks and hit in a batting cage Saturday. The first baseman also did some light jogging in the outfield for a second straight day. The Cardinals are hoping to have Craig ready to serve as a pinch-hitter or designated hitter in the World Series but don't want to push him back too quickly.
