Alex Ovechkin said his broken foot is healing well, according to the Washington Post's Katie Carrera. The Washington Capitals' star suffered a hairline fracture in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals and still played Game 7 before heading to Sweden to play with Russia in the World Championships. "Right now, I'm walking fine," Ovechkin said during a conference call Sunday. "I'm going to start playing tennis soon so I'm going to be in good shape. ... It's kind of getting better. I feel pretty good about my foot." Ovechkin suffered the injury blocking a puck, but didn't speak to the team doctor or trainer about it. He said he knew there was something wrong with the foot, but didn't have a MRI on it until after the World Championships. "I just played the game because it's the playoffs," he said. "It doesn't matter what happens. You have to be there and you have to play the best that you can."
