Alex Ovechkin practiced on Friday for the first time since he sustained a lower-body injury against the New York Islanders on April 22.

The forward, who has missed the past three games, was on the ice for about 30 minutes for the optional practice before leaving.

Ovechkin has yet to be cleared to play, so it's unknown if he'll be in the lineup against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, NBCSWA, ATTSN-PT, NHL.TV).
