The Washington Capitals added another name to their depth forward competition at the team’s upcoming training camp by signing right wing Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout agreement. Chiasson, 27, is the second player to join Washington’s training camp on such an agreement; defenseman Jryki Jokipakka is the other. With several job openings across the Capitals’ lineup, a PTO allows the team to get a look at some veterans without committing to them beyond training camp. The Capitals can release Chiasson or Jokipakka at any point in training camp, or the tryout could turn into a contract for the season. Chiasson played in 81 games for Calgary last season, scoring 12 goals and 12 assists while averaging less than 14 minutes per game.
