Aldon Smith, the 49ers' single-season sack record-holder, underwent recent shoulder surgery, a source confirmed to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area on Friday. The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Smith underwent surgery a few weeks ago to repair a torn labrum. "We don't discuss the particulars of injuries," a 49ers spokesman said. Smith appeared on the 49ers' injury report with an undisclosed shoulder injury for the Week 12 game against the New Orleans Saints and every game the remainder of the season, including the playoffs and Super Bowl. He recorded 5.5 sacks the previous game against the Chicago Bears. Smith recorded 4.5 sacks in the next three games after appearing on the injury report. He did not have any sacks in the final three regular-season games, a period of time that coincided with Justin Smith's absence with a partially torn triceps.
