Alabama forward Nick Jacobs, who ended the previous season on a leave of absence, was released from his scholarship Tuesday. "We want to thank Nick for his contributions to our program the past three seasons," Alabama men's basketball coach Anthony Grant said in a university release. "We wish him success with the next chapter of his career." Jacobs took what Grant described as an "indefinite leave of absence" in February and did not return for the rest of the season. In April, Jacobs was honored along with the rest of his teammates at the Crimson Tide's end-of-year banquet and had resumed his strength and conditioning workouts.
